Of Mice and Men Characterization

Lennie is the definition of an oxymoron. He his timid and acts like a small guy, yet he is probably the strongest on the ranch. Lennie is a bit slower than the other men but his strenght makes up for his limitations. He is a hard worker and has a dream for one day him and Gorge would own their own property and live off the land.

All Lennie every wanted was to live with Gorge his best friend and his only friend and have all the puppies and rabbits that he could stroke and love with all his heart. Lennie seems like a simple person but he is a lover and a thinker and wants to be loved back by whoever he can. In a mean time period that there living in, the only thing that loves him unconditionally his is dog and his rabbits.

There aren't a lot of differences between his outer feelings and his inner feelings. He is a very open person because he doesn't know what to keep personal and what he can tell the others.

Turning Point Of Mice and Men

The turning point in this section of the book was when Curley started a fight with poor old Lennie who wanted nothing to do with him. By the end of the fight Curley was in a fetal position on the floor with a messed up hand. Curley is higher on the hierarchy of the farm compared to Lennie so this fight could have lost them their job or caused there dream to not come true.

" Then Curley's rage exploded."

I think that Steinbeck wrote the paragraph using juxtaposition to show the contrast between all the characters and how different they really are. The paragraphs shows the size difference between the men and goes deeper into showing who they are as a person. A great example of this is when Curley a relatively small guy is attacking a big guy: Lennie who doesn't want to fight back.

Dreams, Ambitions and Hopes

My dream is to grow up and have a job with landyachtz and over time start traveling around the world with them and peruse my longboarding career and never stop. I want a little house in the same neighborhood that i'm in now and I want to do what I love everyday when I wake up.  I'll wake up, eat my breakfast, grab my longboard and go to work and never stop enjoying my self. If your don't enjoy what you do then you wont be a happy person.

Lennie

''Le's go, Gorge. Le's get outta here. It's mean here.''

In this quote the author is showing that Lennie wants a better life for him and Gorge and doesn't want to get bullied in their new farm.

''A brown and white one,''

This shows that even though Gorge thinks its better if he does all the talking Lennie still gets what he wants out, to show how he feels which makes it easier for the reader to connect with him.

''You ask him right away, Gorge, so he won't kill no more of 'em.''

This line shows that John Steinbeck wants to show that Lennie may not be the brightest it the bunch if he wants something he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Latter on in the story this might result in Gorge and Lennie finding what they've wanted all their lives.

Curley's Wife

''Im lookin' for Curley,'' she said. Her voice had a nasal, brittle quality.

This quote tells us that the author wants us to think of Curley's wife in a bad way. She could have asked anyone else on the farm but she decides to ask the two new guys so she could see their looks.

''If he ain't, I guess I better look someplace else,'' she said playfully.

In this quote she finds that Curley isn't here and she states that she would better go look for him but she also wants to stay here and talk to the new boys in town.

'' 'Bye, boys,''.

This quote is interesting because the other characters who came in left in a huff. She says good bye in a playful way.

My bedroom in detail. My bedroom is kind of small right now because we are going through a renovation so i'm sleeping in the guest bedroom. In the guest bedroom there are two windows. One looking out onto the street and a smaller one that sits right over the bed. The floor is carpeted in a creamy color.which is where I store all my clothes.  The guest bedroom has a door and on the back of the door is a hook where I hang jackets.I also have a closet in my room where I can hang nice shirts or coats. I have one set of draws which hold all of my clothes.

Entry Number 2

The book is very different from my expectations. I'm glad the author decided to go the route that he did. I like the characters in the book so far. I thought the book was going to be about a father that raises his son as a farmer. But as you know of you read the first sixteen pages that is not the case. The only similarity would be the fact that the two main characters are farmers. Gorge and Lennie have the dream to be able to have a house one day with lots of money and a woman for both of them. I think that in the end they will fulfill a section of their dream but no the whole thing. In the first chapter the author shows his ability to describe a character and to set a scene in using great imagery. Why did they get kicked of there last farm? Are they African Americans? If Lennie and Gorge are brothers?

Mice and Men Aidan

Based on the book covers of, Of Mice and Men I think the book is about a father and a boy who are very close. I think that the book will be about the father teaching his boy about life. It looks as if it they live in California and the family is a family of farmers. They look like hard working people.
