I felt that the ending to Of Mice and Men was as it should be. There are no fairy tales and or magical wishes. In the time period that they were in, they were expecting a miracle. I think that Gorge knew the whole time that their dream would never happen, and he made it up so Lennie had determination and something to lose if he caused another incident at the farm...but that couldn't stop him. I appreciated that John Steinbeck finished the book with out leaving anything hanging so you knew how the ending played out.
I didn't dislike any part of the ending, I thought it was the right way to finish the relationships between Gorge and Lennie. When Gorge has to put Lennie down he is helping him more than he is hurting him. There would have been no way that Gorge and Lennie wouldn't have been able to have that place on the hill and by the time that Curley got to them there would be no escaping his bullet. The poem is about a mouse going through the struggle of life and not being able to handle what storm comes next. Gorge and Lennie go through struggles of their own, they may be different than the mice's but there defiantly struggles. John Steinbeck is saying that life in that stage of the great depression is hard and when you can you should have another friend or family member to lean on or to keep you sane.

The Ending
Lennie would have found his way back to the camp site they stayed at the first time we were introduced to the characters. As gang of people lead by Curley marched out to look for him Gorge would slowly stray from the group and go to Lennie. As Gorge came into the scene he would see Lennie sitting down by the water holding the shotgun that he had stole from the farm. Gorge would come sit next Lennie and he wouldn't say anything. They would just sit there for a while speechless. Lennie would be the first to talk. He would look at Gorge and thank him for everything he had done for him and thank him for understanding. Lennie would take the gun, put it to his head and pull the trigger. Its a a cruel world.

Of Mice and Men Characterization
Lennie is the definition of an oxymoron. He his timid and acts like a small guy, yet he is probably the strongest on the ranch. Lennie is a bit slower than the other men but his strenght makes up for his limitations. He is a hard worker and has a dream for one day him and Gorge would own their own property and live off the land.
All Lennie every wanted was to live with Gorge his best friend and his only friend and have all the puppies and rabbits that he could stroke and love with all his heart. Lennie seems like a simple person but he is a lover and a thinker and wants to be loved back by whoever he can. In a mean time period that there living in, the only thing that loves him unconditionally his is dog and his rabbits.
There aren't a lot of differences between his outer feelings and his inner feelings. He is a very open person because he doesn't know what to keep personal and what he can tell the others.

Turning Point Of Mice and Men
The turning point in this section of the book was when Curley started a fight with poor old Lennie who wanted nothing to do with him. By the end of the fight Curley was in a fetal position on the floor with a messed up hand. Curley is higher on the hierarchy of the farm compared to Lennie so this fight could have lost them their job or caused there dream to not come true.
" Then Curley's rage exploded."
I think that Steinbeck wrote the paragraph using juxtaposition to show the contrast between all the characters and how different they really are. The paragraphs shows the size difference between the men and goes deeper into showing who they are as a person. A great example of this is when Curley a relatively small guy is attacking a big guy: Lennie who doesn't want to fight back.

Dreams, Ambitions and Hopes
My dream is to grow up and have a job with landyachtz and over time start traveling around the world with them and peruse my longboarding career and never stop. I want a little house in the same neighborhood that i'm in now and I want to do what I love everyday when I wake up. I'll wake up, eat my breakfast, grab my longboard and go to work and never stop enjoying my self. If your don't enjoy what you do then you wont be a happy person.
